Package overview
This itinerary covers the same two cities as our other 6-night Cambodia combination but in reverse order: three nights in Siem Reap, including the full Angkor circuit and a Phnom Kulen mountain excursion, come first, followed by an overland transfer to Phnom Penh for the final two nights.
Arrival in the capital is marked with a Mekong sunset cruise past the Royal Palace and Diamond Island, and the following day covers Phnom Penh's Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum before departure — a history-heavy close for clients who would rather see the temples while they are fresh.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Siem Reap, city tour
Arrival in Siem Reap and transfer to the hotel, with a short city orientation to follow — enough to get a first sense of the town before the Angkor and Phnom Kulen days begin. The evening is free.
Day 2: Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm circuit
The circuit opens at Angkor Wat, raised in the early 12th century for King Suryavarman II, then continues into Angkor Thom, the Khmer empire's fortified last capital, entered via the South Gate to Bayon Temple and its carved stone faces.
From the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, the route continues to Ta Prohm, tangled in banyan tree roots and familiar from the Tomb Raider film, before the day closes with sunset at Pre Rup temple.
Day 3: Phnom Kulen mountain excursion
A roughly 58km drive north of Siem Reap reaches Phnom Kulen, considered a holy mountain by both Hindus and Buddhists and significant as the site where King Jayavarman II proclaimed Khmer independence in 804 CE. The visit includes the River of a Thousand Lingas carved into the riverbed and a reclining Buddha statue carved into a boulder.
A waterfall inside Kulen National Park provides a shaded picnic stop, and the group calls at Banteay Srey village on the return leg to see traditional palm sugar production before heading back to Siem Reap.
Day 4: Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Mekong sunset cruise
Check-out is followed by the overland transfer to Phnom Penh by public bus, around six hours by road. On arrival, the group checks in and has free time before an hour-long sunset cruise along the Mekong, passing the Royal Palace, the riverside district, a floating community and the new Diamond Island development.
Day 5: Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and Tuol Sleng city tour
The morning covers the Royal Palace compound, the working residence of Cambodia's king since 1866, and the adjoining Silver Pagoda, named for the roughly 5,000 silver tiles covering its floor and home to a gold Buddha statue and a crystal Buddha figure. A stop at Wat Ounalom, the historic seat of Cambodian Buddhism, follows.
The afternoon turns to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former school used as a Khmer Rouge interrogation centre, where a guide explains its role during the regime before the group returns to the hotel.
Day 6: Departure from Phnom Penh
Free time in the morning until the private transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport for the onward or return flight, with no further sightseeing scheduled on the departure day.
