Package overview

This is our most complete Siem Reap-only itinerary: four nights from one fixed hotel, with three distinct full days covering the classic Angkor circuit, a Tonle Sap floating-village boat trip and city tour, and a Phnom Kulen mountain excursion — three different sides of the region rather than temples alone.

It suits clients who have decided Siem Reap is the priority for this trip and would rather go deep on one base than split nights with Phnom Penh; agents can pair it with a separate Phnom Penh product later if the client wants the capital on a future visit.

Trip highlights

  • Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Ta Prohm with a Pre Rup sunset
  • Tonle Sap floating village by private boat
  • Les Artisans d'Angkor stone- and wood-carving workshop
  • King's Residence shrine and Old Market shopping
  • Phnom Kulen — River of a Thousand Lingas and waterfall
  • Banteay Srey village palm sugar-making visit

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Siem Reap, city tour

Arrival in Siem Reap and transfer to the hotel, with a short city orientation to follow — enough to get a first sense of the riverside area and Old Market before the three full excursion days begin. The evening is free.

Day 2: Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm circuit

The circuit opens at Angkor Wat, built in the early 12th century for King Suryavarman II, then continues into Angkor Thom, the Khmer empire's fortified last capital, entered through the South Gate to reach Bayon Temple and its carved stone faces.

From the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, the route heads to Ta Prohm, still tangled in banyan tree roots and recognisable from the Tomb Raider film, before the day closes with sunset at Pre Rup temple.

Day 3: Tonle Sap floating village and Siem Reap city tour

A private boat from Chong Khneas takes the group onto Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, to see a floating village where houses, a school, a pagoda and a small crocodile farm all sit on the water. Les Artisans d'Angkor, which trains young Cambodians in traditional stone carving and wood sculpture, follows.

In town, the group visits Wat Preah Prom Rath pagoda and the shrine at the King's Residence, where locals worship with offerings of jasmine and lotus flowers, before an afternoon left free for shopping at the Old Market and the Siem Reap Art Market.

Day 4: Phnom Kulen mountain excursion

The roughly 58km drive north to Phnom Kulen reaches a mountain considered holy by both Hindus and Buddhists and significant as the site where King Jayavarman II proclaimed Khmer independence in 804 CE. Highlights include the River of a Thousand Lingas carved into the riverbed and a reclining Buddha statue carved into a boulder.

A waterfall inside Kulen National Park makes a shaded picnic stop, and the group calls at Banteay Srey village on the way back to see traditional palm sugar production before returning to Siem Reap.

Day 5: Departure from Siem Reap

Free time until the private transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for the onward or return flight, with no further sightseeing scheduled on the departure day.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose this over the 3-night Siem Reap temple package?
The extra nights add a Tonle Sap floating-village day and a Phnom Kulen mountain day on top of the same Angkor circuit — worth it for clients treating Siem Reap as the main event rather than a stopover.
Can Phnom Penh be added afterwards?
Yes, though as a separate booking — this product is Siem Reap only. Check our combined itineraries if the client wants both cities on the same trip.
Is the boat trip suitable for children?
Yes, life jackets are used on the Tonle Sap boat and the ride is calm, though supervise young children closely around the floating structures.
Is the hotel fixed on this itinerary?
Yes, it is quoted against a fixed hotel rather than a category list; tell us if a specific property is required.
What is the best season for the Tonle Sap visit?
The lake is at its fullest and most scenic from around August to December; water levels drop in the dry season, roughly February to May, exposing more of the stilt structures.
