Package overview

This sits between our 4-night express combination and the fuller 6-night version: two nights in Phnom Penh give the capital a proper sightseeing day rather than a brief stopover, before an overland transfer, around six hours by road, to Siem Reap for the remaining two nights.

The transfer day itself is not wasted — on arrival in Siem Reap the group visits a local perfume and soap workshop, two riverside pagodas and the Street 60 food area, before the trip's single full Angkor day covering Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Baphuon, Ta Prohm and a Bakheng sunset.

Trip highlights

  • A full sightseeing day in Phnom Penh
  • Overland transfer to Siem Reap with local pagoda and workshop stops
  • Senteurs d'Angkor natural products workshop
  • Wat Bo and Wat Preah Prom Rath riverside pagodas
  • Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Baphuon and Ta Prohm
  • Sunset from Bakheng Mountain temple

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh

Arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport and private transfer to the hotel without an accompanying guide. The rest of the day is free for independent rest, with the Phnom Penh sightseeing programme beginning the following morning.

Day 2: Phnom Penh sightseeing (B)

After breakfast, a full day is set aside for Phnom Penh sightseeing, with the itinerary content tailored to the client's interests — the capital's riverside area, markets and heritage sites are all within reach on a single day's touring. The evening is free.

Day 3: Transfer to Siem Reap, local temple and street food tour (B)

Breakfast and check-out are followed by the overland transfer to Siem Reap, around six hours by road with the bus ticket included in the package. On arrival, the group checks into the hotel before an afternoon of local touring begins.

Stops include the Senteurs d'Angkor workshop, where oils, balms and soaps are made from local plants and flowers, the riverside pagodas of Wat Bo and Wat Preah Prom Rath, and the Street 60 food area, where locals gather for an evening meal after work.

Day 4: Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm circuit (B)

The full day opens at Angkor Wat, the largest temple in the world, unusual among Khmer temples for facing west. The circuit continues into Angkor Thom via the South Gate, taking in Bayon Temple's carved faces and the 11th-century Baphuon, built for the Hindu god Shiva.

From there the route passes the Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King, with a lunch stop near Srah Srong (own account), before continuing to Ta Prohm and its banyan-root corridors, and closing with sunset from Bakheng Mountain temple.

Day 5: Departure from Siem Reap

Free time until the private transfer to Siem Reap International Airport for the onward or return flight; no further sightseeing is scheduled on the departure day.
