Package overview
This itinerary keeps Koh Samui as both base and focus, without a Koh Phangan crossing or party component. Three fixed days carry the trip: a speedboat day at Angthong Marine Park for snorkelling and kayaking among limestone islands, a half-day visit to Samui Elephant Sanctuary, and a half-day island tour covering the Big Buddha, Wat Khunaram and Namuang Waterfall.
Compared with the Full Moon Party version of this itinerary, this route is oriented toward nature and family sightseeing rather than nightlife, and suits agents booking couples, families or older travellers who want a full but relaxed schedule across four nights on one island.
Trip highlights
- Full-day Angthong Marine Park tour by speedboat, with snorkelling and kayaking among limestone islands
- Half-day visit to Samui Elephant Sanctuary, an ethical, no-riding elephant retreat
- Big Buddha temple and Wat Khunaram's mummified monk
- Namuang Waterfall stop on the half-day Samui island tour
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Koh Samui
The trip begins with arrival at Koh Samui Airport and transfer to the hotel. Thailand's second-largest island combines palm-lined beaches with an interior of hills and waterfalls, and works as a comfortable base for both offshore island trips and half-day sightseeing around Samui itself. The rest of the day is free to settle in.
Day 2: Angthong Marine Park snorkelling and kayaking by speedboat
The day trip covers Angthong National Marine Park, a cluster of more than 40 limestone islands roughly 30 km off Koh Samui, known for hidden lagoons, sheer cliffs and clear water. Guests typically spend the day snorkelling around the islands and kayaking through calmer bays, taking in scenery that is markedly different from Koh Samui's main beaches.
Day 3: Samui Elephant Sanctuary
Samui Elephant Sanctuary was the first ethical elephant sanctuary on the island, set up as a retirement home for elephants previously used in logging and tourism work. The half-day programme lets guests feed, walk alongside and observe the resident herd as they roam, bathe and socialise, with no riding involved — an approach increasingly preferred by agents booking animal-welfare-conscious clients.
Day 4: Half-day Samui island tour
The tour circles Samui's main ring road, stopping at the Big Buddha, one of the island's most photographed landmarks, along with the Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks, a naturally shaped rock formation on the coast. The route also visits Wat Khunaram to see its mummified monk before finishing at Namuang Waterfall, a multi-tier cascade set in the island's interior.
Day 5: Departure from Koh Samui
The trip closes with transfer to Koh Samui Airport for the return or onward flight. With no Koh Phangan crossing or late-night activity built into the schedule, this itinerary keeps a steady, family-friendly pace across the four nights and pairs easily with a Bangkok stopover for clients extending their trip.
