Package overview

This is the only nightlife-driven itinerary among the Koh Samui and Gulf-island tours in the programme, structured around the Full Moon Party, the well-known monthly beach party held at Haad Rin on neighbouring Koh Phangan and reached by boat from Koh Samui. A free day precedes the party night, and a half-day Samui city tour follows it, giving guests recovery time built into the schedule.

Because the party date is fixed to the lunar calendar rather than the day of the week, exact trip dates need to be set around the monthly schedule. This makes the itinerary a good fit for younger travellers, friend groups or bachelor/bachelorette-style trips rather than family or older-traveller bookings.

Trip highlights

  • Full Moon Party at Haad Rin, Koh Phangan (reached by boat from Koh Samui)
  • A free day built in before the party for individual activities
  • Half-day Samui city tour: Nathon town, Wat Khunaram's mummified monk and the Big Buddha temple
  • Koh Samui as a base, avoiding an overnight stay on Koh Phangan itself

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Koh Samui

The trip begins with arrival at Koh Samui Airport and transfer to the hotel. Thailand's second-largest island pairs a laid-back beach scene with an easy boat connection to Koh Phangan, making it a practical base for guests planning to attend the Full Moon Party later in the stay. The rest of the day is free to settle in.

Day 2: Free day for individual activities

The day is left open for guests to relax on Koh Samui's beaches or arrange their own activities — diving, snorkelling, spa time or simply resting — ahead of the Full Moon Party the following night. It also gives the group flexibility to adjust plans around ferry schedules to Koh Phangan.

Day 3: Full Moon Party (Koh Phangan)

In the evening, the group takes a boat from Koh Samui across to Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, a large open-air beach party held monthly in line with the lunar calendar and known for its fire shows, music and beach-bar scene. Guests return to their Koh Samui hotel afterward rather than staying overnight on Koh Phangan.

Day 4: Half-day Samui city tour

The tour heads to Nathon town for souvenir shopping and lunch on your own, then continues to Wat Khunaram to see its mummified monk, preserved in a seated position inside a glass case within the temple. The tour finishes at the Big Buddha temple, one of Koh Samui's most photographed landmarks and a popular stop for its causeway setting and views over the water.

Day 5: Departure from Koh Samui

The trip closes with transfer to Koh Samui Airport for the return or onward flight. Because the itinerary is built around one specific party night, agents should confirm the Full Moon Party date for the travel month before quoting fixed arrival and departure days.

Frequently asked questions

How do we know the exact date of the Full Moon Party for a given trip?
The party follows the lunar calendar rather than a fixed weekday, so the date shifts month to month; we recommend confirming the exact date against the travel month before finalising arrival and departure days.
Do guests stay overnight on Koh Phangan?
No — this itinerary keeps guests based in Koh Samui throughout, with a boat crossing to Haad Rin on Koh Phangan for the party itself and a return the same night.
Is this itinerary suitable for families with children?
This route is built around nightlife and is generally better suited to younger travellers or friend groups; families should consider our standard Koh Samui itinerary, which focuses on the Elephant Sanctuary, Angthong Marine Park and a city tour instead.
What should agents tell clients about safety at the Full Moon Party?
The Full Moon Party is a large, crowded open-air event; standard travel-safety guidance around belongings, alcohol and swimming at night applies, and clients should be reminded to stay with their group.
Can this trip be combined with the standard Koh Samui sightseeing itinerary?
Yes — the Angthong Marine Park and Elephant Sanctuary excursions from our standard Koh Samui tour can be added to extend this trip for clients who want both the party night and more conventional sightseeing.
