Krabi town sits between Phang Nga and Trang on Thailand's Andaman coast, and the province around it is built almost entirely around natural scenery — sheer limestone cliffs, mangrove forests, waterfalls, caves and more than a hundred islands strung along a 150 km coastline. It is the destination we recommend when a client wants a genuinely different landscape from the resort beaches of Phuket or Pattaya.

Most itineraries base guests in Ao Nang, Railay, or on Phi Phi Island or Koh Lanta, with hotel options running from budget to luxury. Nightlife is limited compared with Phuket or Pattaya, and Ao Nang's street-side shops and restaurants — serving Indian, Thai, European and other Asian cuisine — make it an easy base for families and older travellers as well as adventure groups.

Krabi is built for activity: island-hopping, snorkelling, rock climbing, sea kayaking, jungle trekking and scuba diving are all sold as half- or full-day excursions, which makes it straightforward to fill a 3-4 night stay without repeating an itinerary.
