Where most itineraries in this range start in Hanoi and work south or central, this one begins in Ho Chi Minh City and flies north to Da Nang, skipping the capital and Ha Long Bay entirely. It suits clients who have already visited or plan to visit Hanoi separately, or who specifically want a south-and-central combination for a shorter trip.
The three Ho Chi Minh City nights cover Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta, while the two Da Nang nights focus on Ba Na Hills and an evening in Hoi An's ancient town — without the Hue excursion that appears in the seven-day version of this same route. It runs well from February to August, when central Vietnam is generally drier.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City (about a 30-minute, 10 km transfer from the airport)
Ho Chi Minh City, still widely known as Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city and commercial hub, blending colonial-era landmarks with a modern, fast-moving street life. Arrival afternoons are usually kept easy, with an optional walk through the central districts.
Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels and Ho Chi Minh City half-day tour (about 1½ hours / 70 km one way)
The morning covers the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive underground network built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence. In the afternoon, a walking tour of the city centre takes in the former Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street, the Continental Hotel, the Opera House and City Hall.
Day 3: Mekong Delta tour (about 2 hours / 80 km one way)
A two-hour drive southwest reaches the Mekong Delta, where a boat cruise through the Vam Xep canal leads to a small islet for a walk past orchards and villages. The day includes a bee farm with honey tea and fruit tasting, a coconut-candy workshop, and a narrow-canal row-boat ride before returning to Ho Chi Minh City via My Tho by motorised boat.
Day 4: Fly to Da Nang, evening Hoi An tour (about 1 hour / 30 km one way to Hoi An)
A morning domestic flight connects Ho Chi Minh City with Da Nang, where the afternoon covers the Cham Museum and Marble Mountains after checking in. The evening moves to Hoi An's ancient town for a walk through the Tan Ky old house, the assembly hall, the Japanese covered bridge, old wells, the local market and the riverside harbour, before returning to Da Nang.
Day 5: Ba Na Hills excursion
Ba Na Hills is reached by one of Southeast Asia's longest cable-car systems, known locally as central Vietnam's cooler answer to Da Lat or Sapa. The day covers the French wine cellar, the Golden Bridge held aloft by its giant stone hands, Linh Ung Pagoda, the Fantasy Park amusement area and King Peak at 1,487 metres, topped by Linh Tu Pagoda.
Day 6: Departure from Da Nang
The day is left free until transfer to Da Nang International Airport for the onward or homeward flight, closing a trip that skipped Hanoi and Ha Long Bay in favour of a south-and-central focus.
